he beautiful Provencal village of Plan de la Tour is surrounded by vineyards and Mediterranean woodland including oaks, pines, olives, mimosa and chestnut trees.
This traditional French village is one of the few remaining jewels of unspoiled Provence with its old lanes, terracotta roofs and ancient bell tower. Despite its timeless charm, it still has all the amenities one could wish for. There are several small grocery stores, a Tourist Office, a pharmacy, tabac, one bar and a host of marvellous restaurants to satisfy every palate. There are even two working vineyards on the edge of the village for those who want to try the local wines.
On Thursday mornings the village hosts its regional Market Fair. Other local village markets include St-Tropez, Port Grimaud, Grimaud, Cogolin, and La Garde Freinet. These markets sell locally produced foods, clothing and handicrafts. Boules and tennis can be played in the village and there is also a children’s playground.
Ste Maxime is a stone’s throw away – 15 minutes by car down leafy lanes which meander through the vineyards. From here, ferries run every 20/30 mins to St Tropez/Cannes. Stroll through the famous Provencal markets, view the magnificent yachts or simply watch the world go by.
The nearest beaches are in Ste Maxime, which boasts 6km of beaches plus many more stretching from St Tropez all the way to Nice! The choice is yours!
There are plenty of activities available such as, diving, sailing, golf (two 18 hole courses), cycling, hiking, fishing, riding, mountain biking, and even a casino. There is also the famous Aqualand water park, an absolute ‘must’ for the kids. The nearest hypermarket, is located on the outskirts of Ste Maxime. Boutiques and designer shops can be found in Ste Maxime, Port Grimaud and St Tropez.
